Should I Include Grandparents in a Photo Session?

Multi Generational Family Photography Perth

One of my favourite quotes is “when grandparents walk in the door, discipline flies out the window” Ogden Nash

It is amazing how much the room lights up when we have Grandparents involved in a photo session. They bring a sense of lightness and mischievousness as grandparents always have that ‘little treat’ or ‘special hug’ that brings out the best in even the grumpiest teenager. We see it time and time again.

So for us Grandparents are always more than welcome to come along and be involved. Multi-Generational photo sessions are some of our favourite. How special when you have 3 or even 4 generations together in the one image. That collective wisdom and shared identity is truly priceless.

Of course having grandparents along can bring with it challenges but it’s all about being prepared. Sometimes their ability to navigate down bush tracks or sandy beaches can be a little difficult and if we know ahead of time we will have a chair on hand for them to sit on in between shooting. We will always have water on hand and ensure there is a shady spot to accommodate them. The location can also be adjusted to suit those with wheelchairs and walking frames. We know some great wheelchair friendly board walks. We can of course also accommodate grandparents in the climate controlled environment of our studio

One of the biggest advantages to having grandparents along is that you have Birthday/Christmas presents all wrapped on as no Grandparent could resist a wonderful image of themselves surrounded by their grandchildren!
